Concerning dimensions...[SOLVED, 8 Sept 2025]

[NOTE: using QCAD Professional, 3.27.6 on Windows 10 Professional]

...when I use one of the dimensioning tools, I see the actual measurement showing but noticeably dimmer than the lines, etc. that make up the drawing: see the screenshot named example 1.
example 1.png
example 1.png (10.52 KiB) Viewed 12968 times

If I get close to the dimension with the cursor, it becomes clear (see example 2),
example 2.png
example 2.png (10.81 KiB) Viewed 12968 times
but reverts when I move the cursor.

How do I get the dimension to remain fully visible, as in example 2?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, but I'm getting up to speed after being accustomed to AutoCAD.

Hi,

Please check menu Edit .. Drawing Preferences .. Dimensions .. Label .. Label Color
'By Layer' would use the same color as the Layer they live on (Just like the extension lines).
Suspecting that it is set to a darker red.

Drawing Preferences are those for the current active drawing.

A similar section in the Application Preferences is for all new drawings.
Once created as new, see its Drawing Preferences.

Pointing near a drawing entity, highlights that entity.
Depending its current color, its overall brightness, that may highlight or darker things.
Dark red text would turn in bright red text when indicating near it, white extension lines turn less bright.

Dark red is of course better visible on paper with a white background.
Similar to yellow, clearly visible in model view, but almost invisible on paper.
